Casual Dating Profile Tips: Say What You Want
Photos, a three-line bio and first lines worth sending.
A casual dating profile can be short: a recent, clear photo of your face, two or three plain sentences about what you enjoy and what you want, and tags that match. Be honest about your age, skip the clichés and keep your address and workplace out of it.
Your Profile Is Your Introduction
You have probably worked out what you want by now, so say so in a few lines that invite a reply.
Photos
Photos to Use
Start with your best recent photo: clear, well lit and ideally taken by someone else rather than at arm’s length in the bathroom mirror.
Do
- Use a photo from the past year or two.
- Show your face and your eyes.
- Add a second shot that shows more of you.
- Pick something you enjoy: a garden, a beach, a bar stool.
Skip
- Sunglasses in every picture.
- Group shots where nobody can tell which one is you.
- Heavy filters or a photo from twenty years ago.
- Pictures that show your house number or workplace.
Want extra credibility? An ID check earns a badge on your profile. If you would rather not send documents, the team can validate your profile by hand, and a live video check with a moderator needs none either (it earns no badge). The safety page explains each.
Words
Your Bio in Three Lines
Short, honest and easy to answer.
Say what you enjoy
One line about something real: a pastime, a taste in music, a favourite kind of evening.
Say what you want
Be plain about whether you are after a flirty chat, a single date or something that runs for a while.
Give them an opening
End with a question or a hint, so the other person has an easy first line to send.
Write your profile text as you would say it out loud. A specific line such as “Retired, curious and up for dinner” is easier to answer than “Looking for fun”.

The first message
First Messages to Borrow
Keep the first message short and specific. Here are four you can adapt.
Your garden photo made me hungry. What are you growing?
Fellow dancer or fellow wallflower? I am asking so I know what to wear.
I liked your profile. Tell me what “curious” means to you.
Straight question, no pressure: coffee first, or something stronger?
Mention one thing from their profile, ask one question and stop there. If the chat goes well and you both want to, you could agree a short video call before you meet. More ideas for the chat itself, and which levels include messaging, are on the senior chat page.
Stay private
What to Keep to Yourself
A profile is public, so write it with that in mind. Leave out your full name, your address, your workplace, your children’s names and anything about money. You can share more later, once you trust the person.
Never put your bank details, passwords or an address in a profile or a first message. Block and report anyone who asks for your password or bank details, because the Terms bar soliciting passwords or personal details from other members for unlawful or commercial ends. Read how to spot dating scams before you reply.
Naughty Seniors already shows other members only your nearest town or city and hides your real name behind a username. Keep your side of the bargain in the words you choose.
Profile Questions
Do I need a photo on my profile?
A clear photo gives people a reason to say hello. If you are shy about it, start with a tasteful picture of you doing something you enjoy, and add more later.
How long should my bio be?
Two or three sentences is plenty. Say what you enjoy, say what you want and finish with an easy question. Long life stories are better saved for the chat, once someone has said hello.
Should I say what I am looking for?
Yes. A plain line about wanting a flirty chat, a single date or a regular arrangement helps both of you see quickly whether you want the same thing.
Is it worth getting the ID badge?
ID verification is at no charge and optional. A badge shows that a member went through the site’s ID check. A live video check with a moderator needs no documents but earns no badge.
